About Me
Becoming a therapist
I became a therapist because having therapy changed my life. It helped me recognise patterns I had developed outside of my awareness, and to reconnect with who I am, what I need, and what I want from life.
What I value most now is the privilege of sitting alongside others as they begin to make sense of their own experiences. I do not take lightly the trust involved in this work. I see my role as helping people understand the ways they may have lost touch with themselves, and supporting them to reconnect with what makes them feel most like themselves.

Outside the therapy room
I live and work in York where I offer psychotherapy in person and online. Psychotherapy is my passion, but outside of work I also love to read and write. These days, I often find myself reading therapy-related books, but when I have the time I can always be tempted by a murder mystery, especially if it’s written by Agatha Christie.
I’m also a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, so much so that my wife and I honeymooned in New Zealand so we could visit some of the filming locations. As you can probably tell, the photo of me on this page was taken at Hobbiton, where the scale of everything gives a slightly unrealistic impression of how tall I am. In real life, I’m 5ft 3.
Begin with a conversation
I offer a free 30-minute chat by phone where we can have a first conversation, and work out whether working together feels like the right fit.
