A Place to Begin

therapy, even if you don’t know where you’re going

Hello!

I’m Jess (she/her/hers), a relational psychotherapist based in York. Having once been in your shoes, I know that making the decision to begin therapy is not always an easy one.

That is part of why my therapy practice is called A Place to Begin. I believe that there is so much to gain from the journeys we find ourselves on, but sometimes the hardest part is simply making a start.

Working with me means not having to arrive with anything worked out. It’s about finding a place to begin, together, at your pace.

Psychotherapy in York

I offer psychotherapy in person in York and online. If you have found your way here, I imagine that things might be difficult for you right now. You might know exactly what you need to talk about, or you might only know that something doesn’t feel right. Whatever it is you need, I can offer a warm, compassionate space to explore what’s going on for you.

I fundamentally believe that therapy is a collaborative process between two humans. My role is not to fix you, but to support you in understanding and processing what might be going on, and in connecting, or reconnecting, with what makes you feel most like you.

Begin with a conversation

I offer a free 30-minute chat by phone where we can have a first conversation, and work out whether working together feels like the right fit.
